Confirm/Ignore | Nikesh Shukla

When my grandpa died last year, I wrote to Facebook to tell them. Which felt like a strange and unnecessary part of the whole grief process. But someone had made a profile for him, and Facebook kept popping his face up on the sidebar suggesting that I say hello, because it had been a while since we’d connected. Which made me feel sick.

Anyway, this short story by Nikesh Shukla is sort of about that, and it’s very good.
