Anonymous asked: Where can I look for editorial assistant/junior writer jobs besides the obvious e.g Guardian jobs site?
The Guardian jobs site is not a particularly good place to look for entry level jobs. Why? Employers have to pay to advertise on these sites, and on the whole they don’t have a problem finding applicants (or employees) through other routes that don’t cost them anything.
So, certainly keep an eye on the Guardian and also the journalism jobs posting on Gorkana. But you should also be:
a) regularly checking the websites of companies that you would like to work for;
b) following companies and journalists on Twitter - when I was at Conde Nast we regularly found junior team members by tweeting about job openings;
c) pitching for freelance work and blogging.
