Shana Tova! This year I do not have adequate facilities to produce brisket for sixteen as I have in the past. Which is sad. But in lieu of that, I will share my brisket recipe for all of you to enjoy. It is delicious, and was taught to me by my grandpa.
1. Go to your local butcher and buy a brisket.
2. Place brisket in your most giant roasting tin or dish.
3. Slice carrots in pennies and onions in circles. Spread generously over the brisket. I mean, really, generously. I’m talking heaps. Surround the brisket with peeled potatoes (or new potatoes, if you are like me and not bothered with peeling).
4. Now it is time for the magic ingredient. Are you ready? Decant one bottle of Heinz chilli sauce all over the brisket. If you do not have access to Heinz chilli sauce (eg you live in England), decant one bottle of Heinz ketchup and a half bottle of sriracha sauce over the brisket.
5. Put brisket in the oven at 150 C for six hours. I’m not kidding.
6. Serve. It is ridiculously delicious. I usually include some kind of token green side dish. Follow with this honey cake, which is superb.
