Patter

The highlight of my day was watching my friend S, a photojournalist, in action on a photo shoot for a small piece we’re doing together. S is a bit of a livewire - utterly hilarious, grumpy and occasionally apt to say rather inappropriate things in social situations.

What I was amazed by today was his application of photographic patter that closely mimicked the tone and syntax of a doctor’s bedside manner, except that instead of, ‘take a deep breath for me,’ it was, ‘can you sit over there for me?’ I don’t think the subject could have been any more disarmed; I was fascinated.
