Things seen on Brick Lane today while I waited for my bike to be fixed

- A dog wearing a scary cage-style muzzle. This reminded me of my beloved Maisie, although her muzzle was very dignified and blended nicely with her fur. Oh, Maisie. I did not pat the dog.

- A guy selling a handful of Sharpie markers to another guy. ‘Ah,’ I thought, ‘Artists. How surprising that they are exchanging art supplies for money like they are drugs or someth…oh.’

- Nick from The Apprentice. He was doing that hilarious face he always does when the contestants are being particularly incompetent, plus there was filming going on, so I think I can safely say that the twentysomethings bumbling around him will be amongst the competitors on next year’s Apprentice. And they will be stupid. Hooray!

- A man carrying a metre-long, half-metre-wide tape deck over his shoulder, without a shred of irony, blasting funk.

- A group of anti-fur protestors, protesting some fur and having a huge amount of fun doing it. There was a strange dissonance between their gruesome ‘FUR KILLS’ posters and their sunny smiles.
